Hurricanes Helene and Milton
As Hurricane Helene response is deeply underway in five states with volunteers currently mobilized and planned out for several weeks, we are now preparing for Hurricane Milton to hit the Tampa, Fla. area mid-week. On Mission Network was to start yet another relief operation in the Tampa / St. Petersburg area on Tuesday, the same day Milton is to arrive. That has been postponed yet the volunteers already serving there are prepared to assist those in Milton’s wake.
For individuals trying to reassemble their lives after Helene, we are providing nutritious meals, tree cutting and chainsaw work, clean water, temporary roofing, flood recovery, and a caring, listening chaplain poised to help and share the hope of Christ to those seeking comfort. Currently, On Mission Network has volunteers from eight states deployed in the five impacted states. It exemplifies the power of a network.
On Mission Network volunteers have accumulated thousands of hours of volunteer time, provided thousands of meals, worked on hundreds of houses with tree damage, arranged for three tractor-trailer loads of our First Step Kits (cleaning and personal hygiene items) as well as water, generators, and fuel to a local school in one of the hardest hit and lowest income areas of North Carolina. So much is being done. Thank you for your generosity – of time and of talent.
The On Mission Network is welcoming volunteers to serve in the impacted areas. We, along with the local governments, ask that you do not self-deploy. Please join a credible group that works with local and federal governments as well as alongside other relief agencies to ensure proper and efficient relief.
