On Mission Network’s disaster response is a highly-trained and effective ministry, which at times can look overwhelming as one wants to join the work. 

The flow of disaster response is always moving, even between deployments. We are consistently training and making connections to ensure when we are needed, we have a network of people to rely on and connect with to be the presence of Christ.

You can deliver help in the name of Christ to those suffering after a disaster. There are many different ministries to get involved with in disaster relief, including:

  • Assess damage
  • Distribute boxes and packing supplies
  • Chainsaw fallen trees
  • Install temprary roofs
  • Manage large-scale relief efforts
  • Minister as a chaplain
  • Muck-out damaged homes
  • Offer free shower and laundry services
  • Serve warm, nutritious meals

There are many ways for you to get started

Joining something already in motion can be daunting. Think of joining disaster relief work like entering a highway via an onramp. There are numerous ramp options and different people choose different ramps based on where they are. No one is better than the other – it’s getting moving that matters. 

Luckily the On Mission Network has people who can train you and have developed numerous onramps to prepare, equip and deploy you. Taking the correct onramp for you will enable you and your teams to be most effective and efficient in responding after disasters.

  • Issue: Looking for someone to call to go on or fund for effective response 

  • Solution: and let’s build a trusted relationship through which you can get involved by giving and going. It starts with training and expanding relationships that will strengthen and empower Christians to make an impact.

  • Issue: We’ve gone on a disaster response, but not with a formal group and see the benefits of doing so. And we need more volunteers.

  • Solution: about how to onramp into the flow of training and deployment that collectively provides the greatest amount of good for families impacted by disasters. Partnering within the On Mission Network affords all involved ways to get involved before and immediately following a disaster.

Onramp 3

  • Issue: We’re a small group and need a local leader with available time and/or a large partner for deeper impact. And we need more volunteers.

  • Solution: Partner with the On Mission Network who will help develop local leaders who will be able to tap into the existing disaster response structure which gets more done with less of the local leader’s time. The size and structure of the network divides the work among On Mission Network staff, key partners and volunteers.

Onramp 4

  • Issue: We have an interested team and want to obtain training and equipment to better serve our local area and go where needed when needed.

  • Solution: The On Mission Network has multiple training opportunities, several of which are online (Coming Soon). In addition to those, we will work with you to host a multi-church disaster relief training to host at your church or other location. To inquire about in-person training, please complete this quick form. Being part of the trained network will connect you to existing disaster relief units, enabling you to use equipment on location during deployments.   • Issue: We have one or more trained and equipped team(s) and need a qualified group alongside whom we can deploy.

  • Solution: We're glad you have a dedicated group of volunteers and some equipment. Getting more involved will enable even more great things through additional volunteers who want to join. Activity often leads to involvement. Partnering with On Mission Network provides you exactly what you’re looking for. We are working constantly with national and state entities to know where disaster response is most likely to be needed. This relationship with governments and other nonprofits ensures we can work collectively and completely serving impacted communities.
