Volunteer to serve your neighbors affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles.

The wildfires in Southern California are burning thousands of acres each day and have destroyed thousands of homes, business and other buildings.

People are hurting, and they need help.

On Mission Network is working with local churches to respond in needed ways. Opportunities to serve include working with a respite/resource center with laundry units, child care, and initial case management. Families affected by the fires can bring their laundry and enjoy a warm cup of coffee while volunteers wash their laundry. While there, those impacted can discover and tap into additional resources for starting their recovery. For many, the fires have created a state of constant worry and chaos. Respite/Resource centers help provide a few moments of peace and a place to retreat from the hectic uncertainty all around them.

On Mission Network needs volunteers for resource centers.

If you are local and would like to serve families affected by the fires, the On Mission Network will train you in Fire / Flood Recovery and connect you with opportunities as they come available. At this time, only local volunteers are being requested. Fire recovery is a long process, and as more needs become known, opportunities for out of state volunteers will be needed.

Volunteer Registration Process

  1. Register: Click the button at the bottom of the page to register.
  2. Training: You will receive an email with a short orientation video. Then sign up for an in-person training.
  3. Complete Background Check and Forms: You will need to fill out a medical release and assumption of risk form and complete a background check. You will receive a link for the background check. All volunteers must complete the background check in order to serve. You will also submit a photo for your volunteer badge.
  4. Receive Digital Volunteer Badge: Upon completion of these steps, you will receive a digital badge that is good for five years. The badge allows you to skip steps 1-3 on future volunteer opportunities unless you need specialty training for specific opportunities that has not been completed yet.
  5. Select Your Service Days: Pick the days and times that work best for – knowing that disaster response is fluid and your chosen area of service may be inaccessible the day you’ve chosen and the notice could be day-of.
