Eastern NC Helping Western NC
Clinton, NC – Members of several Global Methodist Churches, as well as their communities, in Eastern North Carolina collected and delivered truckloads of supplies to people in Western North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene.
Folks along the North Carolina coast are more accustomed to hurricanes and recovery, they know the damage, they know the hurt, they know what is needed. “We have been through this and want to help our neighbors just as they’ve helped us in the past,” Matt Seals, pastor of First Methodist Church, Clinton, NC said. “It’s been amazing to see how so many communities are coming together to meet needs after Hurricane Helene. It’s a true testament to an active faith.”
Items that were collected, sorted, and delivered to a school in Ashe County included shelf-stable food, cases of water, charcoal grills, generators, fuel, diapers, and hygiene and cleaning kits. “The outpouring of love and generosity has been overwhelming,” Paul Dunham, Missions Chair of NC Conference of the GMC said.
Dunham connected with the On Mission Network while attending the Convening Conference in September, before the first of two hurricanes hit. “God’s timing of connecting is always perfect,” Rand Jenkins of On Mission Network noted.
On Mission Network has volunteers from across the country serving in five states that were impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The volunteers are being the hands and feet of Christ by providing food, muck-out services, and tree removal, as well as being a listening ear and offering hope for tomorrow and beyond.
